Gospel concert
LIVERMORE – The North Livermore Baptist Church will host an evening of gospel music by the East Wind Trio at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, sponsored by the Martha Brown Trust.
The trio has won many awards, including that Down East Country Music Association gospel category in 1994 and 2000; first in gospel at the North American Country Music Association contest in Pigeon Forge Tenn., in 2001, and a return to Pigeon Forge in 2002 to win the most promising vocal group in traditional gospel. They have also performed at the Louise Mandrel Theater in Pigeon Forge.
Members of the trio are Norma Barrett, alto; Charles Barrett, lead; and John Guy, tenor and guitar.

Society speaker
FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogy Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Farmington Public Library. Bill Berry will talk about “The Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad.” Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.
Shelter meeting
FARMINGTON – Pet owners and animal lovers are welcome to attend the Franklin County Animal Shelter’s annual meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at the Elks Lodge, School Street, West Farmington. There will be a silent auction, refreshments, door prizes and a chance to meet staff and volunteers. All are welcome.
Country music
SALEM – A+E Hill Country Music will return to the Salem Community Building at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 15. A donation box will be at the door and refreshments will be on sale. It is sponsored by the Salem Pine Tree Club.
Cemetery meeting
CHESTERVILLE – The Webster Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the Chesterville Town Hall.
Seniors meet
LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens met at Murray Hall on April 2 with 35 members present. Prior to the meeting members had an Easter meal of casseroles, salads and other dishes brought in by senior members.
Chairwoman Shirley Couture opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for departed members and the men and women in the Armed Forces. Mary Groleau led in singing “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Marie Gagnon and Dora Slovak were reported on the sick list. Susan MacDonald, Shirley Couture’s daughter, was a guest, and members welcomed back Edith Leblanc, who had undergone cataract surgery last week.
The 50-50 was won by Eugene Pomerleau. Two Easter baskets filled with candies and other novelties were won by Carmen Moreau and Eugene Roy. The meeting was adjourned and beano and other card games were played.
