JAY – School leaders will bring people up-to-date on the consolidation process and share education information from Augusta during a public forum Tuesday at the middle school.
“This meeting will provide an opportunity for anyone interested to express opinions, share concerns and ask questions about regional consolidation,” School Committee Chairman Clint Brooks said. “We encourage parents, taxpayers and students to use this forum to talk about the ‘non-negotiable’ that they believe should remain part of Jay’s educational community.”
School Committee representatives will use the feedback from this meeting to assist them as they move toward the final decisions regarding school consolidation, Brooks said.
Jay has been in talks with SAD 36 in Livermore Falls and SAD 9 in Farmington.
SAD 36 directors held a public forum on school consolidation on Thursday.
A couple of town officials from Livermore and Livermore Falls both said they would like SAD 36 to consolidate with Jay. An unidentified resident also noted that geography should play a part in consolidation partners.
