FARMINGTON – University Credit Union will seek approval from the Planning Board on Monday to establish a Farmington branch at 154 High St.

If the application is approved, credit union President Matthew Walsh said, the plan is to purchase the building at High and Middle streets this week and start renovations next week. A projected starting date would be in August prior to the start of classes at the University of Maine at Farmington. A third of the building would be torn down and new siding and roofing would be added. A walk-up ATM machine would also be available.

The credit union serves university students, faculty and employees and their immediate families. Walsh said they already have approximately 200 customers in the Farmington area. University Credit Union has offices in Orono, Portland and Bangor so Farmington seemed like the next step, he said.
