Auburn – Iona Shirley Berube, 85, of Grandview Street, Lisbon, passed away in the presence of her loving family at the Hospice House, Saturday, April 7.

She was born in Lisbon, Nov. 9, 1921, the daughter of Lena and Walter Barshdorf. She attended Lisbon schools and was a dedicated housewife and mother.

She enjoyed gardening, especially her rock garden, the outdoors and nature, was an accomplished cook, and was an expert quilter. She took an especially keen interest in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years she enjoyed skiing and skating. She had a large circle of friends and was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Richard and his companion Mary Hamel, Ronald, Robert and his companion Denise Hart, Roger and his wife Gisele (LaPlante), Randy, and Glenn; a brother Wallace (Buster) Barshdorf and his wife Irene, a sister Lorraine (Barshdorf) Morse; five grandchildren Katrina Berube, Kylee Bard, Alex Berube, Deirdre Berube, Nathan Berube; and two great-grandchildren Talon Bard and Cambri Bard.

She was predeceased by her husband Vivan Berube, in 2002, to whom she was married for 48 years.
