RUMFORD – Reunited of Kennebec and V-Tec of South Portland captured titles in the recent Mountain Valley Rec Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Reunited earned the B Division championship, by defeating CSM Real Estate of Kingfield in the finals. Pat Hackleman of Reunited was named MVP. Others in the final four were Stone Mountain Mortgage of Bethel, and Pike Industries of Turner. Also in that division were Dan’s Automotive of Rumford; Sacopee Valley; and North Franklin/Abram Runners.

In the A Division, final four teams were River Valley Merchants; Wentworth Woodworking of Bethel; Above Average Joe’s of Skowhegan; and V-Tec. V-Tec defeated Wentworth in the finals to capture the title. Matt Clement of V-Tec was named MVP. Others in that division were Ranor Inc., of Jay, and Shooters of Lewiston-Auburn.

Derek Holt defeated Nick Peruffo of CSM for the foul-shooting championship. Hackleman beat Robie Wentworth for the 3-point crown. And in the slam dunk contest, Matt Clement and Derek Lovely squared off with Clement winning on a perfectly timed tomahawk dunk off an ally-oop pass from over and behind the backboard.

The tournament raised approximately $3,000 for the American Lung Association of Maine and its annual Trek Across Maine.
