LEWISTON – Rosaire D. Pelletier, 82, formerly of 318 East Avenue, Lewiston, died Sunday, April 8, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born in Lewiston, June 3, 1924 the son of Leon and Eugenie (Thibault) Pelletier, and had been a resident of this community all of his life.
He was employed as a weaver for many years at the Bates Hill Division and Quinco Fabrics until his retirement.
He married the former Fleurette M. Courtemanche, on July 17, 1948. She died on Sept. 19, 1997.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, 97th infantry division, in the Asiatic Pacific and European African Middle Eastern Theaters. He earned the Bronze Star medal for his meritorious achievements in ground combat.
He was a man of great faithm having been a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church, and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Peter’s Parish.
He enjoyed carpentry work, fishing, walking, listening to music, playing the harmonica, and was very devoted to his family, especially his grandson Matt, who was his pride and joy.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Lamare and her husband, Norman Jr., of Lewiston; one grandson, Matthew Lamare of Lewiston; three sisters, Rita Morin of Auburn, Jeanne D’Arc Beauchesne and her husband, Bill, of Auburn, and Lillian Arsenault of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister, Ida Blais; and by four brothers, Leo, Gerard, Origene and Real.
