JAY – Police stopped a Jay youth after the vehicle he was driving was clocked going 40 miles per hour over the posted speed limit Sunday night on Route 4 in North Jay, according to police.
Bradley Morin, 19, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence and criminal speed, police Chief Larry White Sr. said Monday.
Officer Michael Mejia’s police report stated he was using radar and clocked Morin’s vehicle at 75 mph in a 35 mph speed zone near the intersection of routes 4 and 17, White said.
Criminal speed is considered 30 miles and over a posted speed limit, he said.
There were three juveniles in the vehicle aged 17 and under and another 19-year-old who were not charged, White said.
Mejia was assisted by Livermore Falls police officers Ken Bryant and Adam Sage. Police notified parents of teenagers to come pick them up, White said.
“The officers did a good job. I’m very pleased,” White said.
Morin was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington where he was released on $3,000 unsecured bail early Monday.
He is scheduled to appear May 24 at 12th District Court in Farmington.
