AUBURN – Bernice H. Mason, 100, a longtime resident of Turner, died Monday, April 9, at Androscoggin Hospice House, where she had been a patient for one week.

She was born in Turner on March 2, 1907, the daughter of Albert and Almeda (James) Lee and attended the local schools.

On May 26, 1929 she married Carroll L. Mason in Livermore Falls. He passed away in 1981.

She worked in the local shoe shops and textile factories, retiring from Livermore Shoe Co. when she was 72 years old.

She was a member of the Turner Senior Citizens and enjoyed playing beano at Boofy Quimby Hall (or anywhere) and was an avid crossword puzzle person.

She was presented the Boston Cane in September of 2001.

She is survived by three sons, John Mason and his fiancée, Lorraine Woodard, of Livermore Falls, Philip Mason and his wife, Diane, of Turner, and Douglas Mason and his wife, Roberta, of Turner; three daughters, Marceline Walton and her husband, Delbert, of Livermore, Lois Keene, who took wonderful care of her mother for many years, of North Turner, and Diane Child of Turner; as well as 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 16 great great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers, Clyde and Fred Lee; and sisters, Flora Lovell, Ethel Mason, Aller Hinkley and Irene Fowler.
