LEWISTON – Monique L. Briggs, 55, of Main Street, died Monday, April 9, at Central Maine Medical Center, with her family at her side after a sudden battle with cancer.
She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 6, 1951, the daughter of Emile and Juliette Lessard Chasse.
She was educated in Lewiston schools including St. Peter’s Grammar School and St. Dominic Regional High School.
She worked as a waitress at the former F.W. Woolworth for many years, where she met the love of her life, Richard. She also worked at Jones & Vining and Norm Chasse’s Cleaning Service.
She married Richard J. Briggs on Aug. 7, 1971.
She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and going for rides with her husband in their Mustang. She also loved cooking, reciting her daily prayers and playing bingo.
Her greatest pleasure was her family and she will be sadly missed but always remembered as a loving, caring wife, mother and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Kelly; and her son, Kevin, all of Lewiston; three sisters, Lorraine Levesque and husband, George, Evelyn St. Pierre, and Monita Larue and husband, Gerry, all of Lewiston; five brothers, Marcel Chasse and wife, Connie, of Greene, Patrick and his wife, Beverly, and Lucien, all of Lewiston, Fernand of Mechanic Falls, and Emile P. and wife, Doris, of Lewiston; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The family wishes to thank the staff of CCU at Central Maine Medical Center for the excellent care to Monique and the compassion shown to the family during this difficult time.
