RUMFORD – Parents and guardians with children who will be 5 years old as of Oct. 15, are asked to call their neighborhood school between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., by April 13, to preregister their child for kindergarten.

Formal registration and screening will take place at the superintendent’s office at 3 Recreation Drive, Mexico.

The dates and times for registration/screening are: Tuesday, May 8, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for students who will be attending Rumford Elementary; Wednesday, May 9, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for students attending Meroby Elementary; Thursday, May 10, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for students who are unable to attend the two previous dates.

Parents should allow approximately one hour for the appointment. They need to bring an original birth certificate (from the town where the child was born, not the hospital), immunization information, and the child’s Social Security card to the registration session. Contact your neighborhood school if you have any questions pertaining to registration.

Chicken supper

MEXICO – A public supper will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at the Mexico U.C.C. Chicken pie, mashed potato and gravy, coleslaw, peas, rolls and desserts. Adults $7; children under 12, $3

RUMFORD CENTER – Rumford Grange No. 115 will be having a public ham dinner with all the fixings, homemade gingerbread, bread pudding, Indian pudding noon to 1:30 p.m., April 15. Adults$7, children under 12, $3.50. Takeout available.

Alzheimer’s support

RUMFORD – The monthly Alzheimer’s Support Group Meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 18 at 85 Lincoln Ave. in Rumford., the Armory building. FMI call Donna at 364-4561.

Trail Blazers meet

MEXICO – The Mexico Trail Blazers will hold its last monthly meeting for the season at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall. Those who would like to become members can do so at a meeting or by calling Nick Brown at 364-8665.
