CARTHAGE – Robert P. Hooley of 202 Storer Hill Road, Carthage, died suddenly at his home on Saturday, April 7.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1942, in Boston, Mass., a son of the late James and Helen (Coughlin) Hooley.
He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion.
He worked for the MBTA in Boston until his retirement in 1983. After moving to Maine, he drove tractor trailer trucks for ten years. He enjoyed the remainder of his retirement, devoted to his family and his dogs.
He is survived by and will be forever missed by his loving wife and best friend, Janet (Marella) Hooley; loved and respected by his son, Christopher of Hartford; loved and sadly missed by his daughter, Dawn (Valliere) Anderson and husband, Burke, of Andover, Mass.; his grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Michelle and Anna Rose; two brothers, James Hooley and his wife, Ellen, of Brighton, Mass., and Morgan Hooley and his wife, Joanna, of Newton, Mass.; a sister, Mary (Hooley) Gagel of Maryland; mother-in-law, Lucy (Tenore) Marella; two sisters-in-law, Ann (Marella) McConville, and Maureen (Marella) Hanratty and husband, Mike, all of Roswell, Ga.; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Buddy.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Nicholas Marella; and his brother-in-law, William McConville.
