Lewiston – Robert L. Currie, 78, a longtime resident of West Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 22, 1928, in Lewiston, the son of Robert H. and Grace (Brown) Currie. After attending Lewiston schools, he graduated from Edward Little High School in 1946.

He proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. He worked for Murphy Fur of Lewiston, Red Rose Tea of Canada, and the wholesale food industry, retiring from Pezrow Enterprises of Scarborough in the early 1990s. He enjoyed old movies, the ocean, watching boxing, bagpipe music, and especially time spent with his family; children, grandchildren and close friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Elaine (Bennett) Currie of Auburn; daughters, Pam Anthony and husband, Mark, of Mechanic Falls, Linda Austin of Greene; son, Scott Currie and wife, Katie, of Poland; sister, Jackie Harder and husband, James, of Old Orchard Beach; sister-in-law, Mildred Currie of Falmouth; grandchildren, Emily Anthony and fiancée, Tim Allen, of Mechanic Falls, Stacy Austin of Sabattus, Jeremy Austin of Greene; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; an infant daughter; and brother, Stanley R. Currie.
