TURNER – During a four-hour special runoff election Wednesday, Turner voters chose Greg Gilbert Sr. and Eric Breidenstein to fill two open Budget Committee seats.

Forty-two people turned out for the election, according to Town Manager Jim Catlin.

Gilbert, Breidenstein, Harry Ricker and Linwood Gilbert received the same number of write-in votes for two uncontested seats during the regular municipal election March 30. Linwood Gilbert withdrew from the race prior to Wednesday’s runoff.

One seat is for a three-year term; the other is for one year.

Breidenstein, who received write-in ballots for both seats on March 30, got 26 votes for the three-year seat to Ricker’s 16. For the one-year seat, Gilbert Sr. received 34 votes to Breidenstein’s eight.

No other town business was conducted Wednesday. The runoff was a continuation of Turner’s 2007 town meeting, which was adjourned after the ballots were counted, about 6:15 p.m.
