Distribution day
AUBURN – Auburn AC SERVE, a part of SERVE New England’s food and volunteer program, will have its Distribution Day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner St., Whitney Street entrance. Registrations for May also will be taken.

Pruning class
MONMOUTH – A pruning class will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Highmoor Farm. Rain date will be Sunday, April 22.
Participants will learn to prune fruit trees with Renae Moran, University of Maine tree fruit expert. A one-hour lecture will be followed by a demonstration in the orchard and a chance to prune apple trees. There is no charge for the class, but people should bring their own pruning tools.

Spring sale
NEW GLOUCESTER – There will be a spring sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Sabbathday Lake Grange, Sabbathday Road, off Route 26. There will be assorted items, including cooked food, cutlery and white elephant articles.
A light lunch will be available. The grange is renting tables. For more information, call Pam Dyer at 657-4612 The deadline for renting tables is May 1.
To welcome soldier
LISBON – The third grade class of Sue Hardison at Lisbon Community School will meet and welcome home a local soldier who is returning from Afghanistan at 1 p.m. Monday, April 23. The class adopted 1st Sgt. David Bernard of the 240th Engineers’ Unit, Army National Guard, Augusta, while he was on deployment.
Collect phones
LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine is conducting a cell phone collection drive. Staff is collecting used cell phones to raise funds to provide fitness, aquatics, child care and counseling for the local community.
Cell phone donations may be brought to the YWCA, 130 East Ave., from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The drive is ongoing.

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on April 10 were: first, Patricia Smith and Shirley West; second/third tie, Helen Little and Anna Vitiello with Nancy Lindgren and Les Buzzell; fourth, Allie Boyer and Charles Bartlett.
The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners at Schooner Estates, Auburn, on April 11 were: first, Paul Barber and Misha Tomic; second, Helen Little and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; first in B, Mary Leahey and Claire Lyons; second in B, Betty and Doug Sise.
