HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Herman N. Letourneau, 79, died Friday, April 6, at the Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, Ala., while wintering in Alabama at the home of his son, Stephen Letourneau.
He was born in Manchester, N.H., Feb. 14, 1928, the son of Florida and Herman Letourneau, and he was raised by his paternal grandparents in Bowdoinham.
He worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad and was a supervisor for Hill Mills and Quinco Fabrics in Lewiston, before his retirement in 1992. He married Betty Harlow, Oct. 28, 1950, and the couple has resided for the past 47 years in Lisbon.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and sports fan. He enjoyed the special times he spent with his family and teaching his grandchildren to drive his tractor.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Diane Letourneau and husband, Frank Shelley, of Weymouth, Mass., and Lori Letourneau and husband, Russell De Champlain, of Lisbon; a son, Stephen Letourneau and wife, Vickie Sue Goodness, of Madison, Ala.; a granddaughter, Kathleen Shelley and fiancé, Dr. Scott Glocke, and his son, Mason Glocke, of Old Orchard Beach; and step-granddaughters, Allison De Champlain of Lisbon, and Kym Kirouac-Bechard and husband, Andrew “Andrews” Bechard, of Magnolia, Del.
