AUBURN – The Healthy Androscoggin Workplace Awards were presented at the monthly Chamber of Commerce breakfast Thursday. The awards recognize businesses and organizations in Androscoggin County that place a high priority on promoting good health for their employees in the areas of tobacco, physical activity and nutrition.
n Those recognized at the gold level of participation were: Bates College, Catholic Charities Maine, TD Banknorth, Thayer Corp., Northeast Bank, Sisters of Charity Health System, Central Maine Medical Center, Tambrands Inc., Sun Journal, Acorn Products, Formed Fiber Technology, USM/Lewiston-Auburn College and Maine Oxy.
n Silver award recipients were: Androscoggin Head Start & Child Care, Canteen Services, Central Maine Power, G.E. Industrial Systems, Geiger, HRH Northern New England, city of Lewiston, Lewiston public schools, Oxford Networks and Uncle Andy’s Digest.
n Bronze award recipients were: Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, Central Maine Community College and Department of Health & Human Services.
n Additional awards for excellence were handed out to Alternative Services and Butler Bros. while Advocates for Children earned a merit award. Quality awards were given to H.E. Callahan Construction Co. and Futureguard Building Products.
