SOUTH PARIS – Roland B. Smith, 79, of Minot died Friday, April 13, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
He was born in Kingman on Dec. 12, 1927, the son of Vernon and Lillian Elizabeth Curtis Smith.
Mr. Smith proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After military service, he had worked in the shoe industry as a hand sewer, retiring from Quoddy Moccasin in Auburn in 1990.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating.
He is survived by his son, Randal Smith, of Auburn; three daughters, Lesa Smith of Limington, Lila Smith of Minot, and Alison Robinson of Lewiston; two sisters, Elaine Pratt of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Althea Keene of Auburn; four brothers, Maynard Taylor of Westport, Mansel Taylor of Canton, Timothy Taylor of Brunswick, and Chester Bradley Taylor of Paris; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
