FARMINGTON – Carolyn Dawn Pratt, 71, of Eastern Avenue, Wilton, died Friday, April 13, at Sandy River Center for Health Care, after a two year battle with lung cancer.
She was born in 1935, in Weld, the eleventh of twelve children born to Carroll W. and Charlotte (Bartlett) Libby.
She moved with the family from Weld to Hartford to “the farm” when she was 9 years old, and attended Weld, Hartford and Canton schools.
For some time, she was employed at Diamond Match in Peru, and on June 24, 1963, graduated from the Pelletier School of Beauty Culture, Inc. in Lewiston.
She moved back to Weld in the early ’60s and later moved to Wilton. She worked at several jobs, from the hairdressing profession to working at Parker’s Woodworking in Weld, and GH Bass and Forster Manufacturing in Wilton until her retirement, at which time she worked as a caregiver to several area folks.
She was a member of the Mt. Blue Assembly of God Church in Farmington.
She is survived by her brother, Lester Libby, his wife, Jean, of Rumford, and their children, Eleanor Fish and her husband, Harry, of Weld, and their children, Jean Goodwin of Canton and her son, Stan, Gloria Jones and her husband, Harold, of Canton and her sons; her sister-in-laws, Thelma Libby of Rumford and her children, Arlene Libby of Durham and her children; a brother-in-law, Fred Boppel of Brunswick; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Almira Pratt of Leeds; and friends from the Eastern Avenue Apartments and her church, who all truly helped her and showed her the true meaning of friendship.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, James Libby and Carroll Libby Jr.; and sisters, Katherine Hathaway, Patricia Libby, Corrine McKinney, Julia Smith and Barbara Boppel.
