Museum exhibit
AUGUSTA – “Cabinet of Curiosities, the Museum, Science Collections and You” will open on Saturday, April 28, at the Maine State Museum.
Special opening day programs will include a Curators’ Corner all day (bring in rocks, fungi, skulls or other natural objects and find out what they are) and “Skins and Skulls,” presented by Lisa Kane of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife from 10 a.m. to noon.

Junior Miss chosen
AUBURN – Samantha Mick of South Berwick was awarded the title of Maine’s Junior Miss 2007 at the ME State Program on April 1. Along with her title, she received a $1,000 cash scholarship, college-granted scholarships from schools across the country, the official Junior Miss Medallion and all-expense paid trip to Mobile, Ala.
A panel of five judges selected her from a field of high school seniors competing in the 50th annual Maine’s Junior Miss scholarship program.
Mick will go on to compete in the 50th annual America’s Junior Miss National Finals in Mobile in June.

School day
YARMOUTH – North Yarmouth Academy will host spring inquiry day for grades six through at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2. The day is for families who may be interested in admission to the middle school and upper school for fall 2007 or fall 2008, including the newly expanded ninth grade.
It will provide information on the school’s overall program and topics, including the academic curriculum, athletics, the arts, admission procedures and financial aid. Families will meet parents, tour the school, visit classrooms and ask questions of faculty and current students.
The event is free to the public, and interested families may call the admission office at 846-2376 to RSVP or for more information.
