OLD ORCHARD BEACH -Carroll J. Plourde, 64, of Old Orchard Beach, died Saturday April 14, at his home after a long illness.

He was born in Fort Kent, Dec. 22, 1942, a son of Josephel and Mary Ann Charette Plourde. He was educated in Biddeford schools, graduating from the former St. Louis High School in the class of 1961, where he starred in football, receiving all-state honors his senior year.

He worked several years in Portland and then in Connecticut as a meat cutter, until his retirement in 1981 due to ill health.

After his disability he attended the University of Maine in Augusta, and received an associate degree.

On Nov., 11, 1996, he married Jocelyn J. Poussard, in Auburn.

He enjoyed local and professional sports, coin collecting, reading and talking with people. He was a member of the St. Louis Alumni Association and St. Margaret’s Church.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, of Old Orchard Beach; one brother, Patrick Plourde and his wife, Betty, of Westbrook; one sister, Rowena Pineau and her husband, Robert, of Keene, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Fernande Boisse Plourde, in 1994; one brother, Omer Plourde; and three sisters, Laurette Pelletier, Bernice Beaulieu and Albertine Loignon.
