BIDDEFORD – Beverly J. Lohfeld, 79, of Biddeford, died Saturday, April 14, at Southern Maine Medical Center, after a long illness.

She was born in Lincoln on March 21, 1928, a daughter of James and Helen Perry Jones.

She was educated in Westbrook schools, graduating in the Class of 1947, and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston in the Class of 1951.

She moved to New York City and worked in advertising. She returned to Maine, where she taught at the University of Southern Maine, and later worked at the Westbrook College Library, retiring in 1990.

She enjoyed living along the Maine coast, reading, photography and traveling.

She is survived by one son, John W. Lohfeld of Biddeford; one daughter, Lynne Lohfeld of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; one grandson, Aydin Uzunoz of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; and a dear friend, Susan Moyes Baydur of New York City.
