FARMINGTON – Literacy Volunteers serving Franklin and Somerset counties will hold the annual used book sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6, at the Elks Lodge, West Farmington. The hours Saturday will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Donated books may be left at the small white building in the parking lot between the lodge and the Northeast Wood Turning Mill.
The sale is a major fundraiser for the literacy organization. The group trains volunteer tutors to help adults improve their literacy skills on a one-to-one, confidential basis.
Through their efforts, teen tutors are trained to assist their peers and younger students. In addition, the agency supports family literacy programs and provides readers in schools and nursing homes.
