Meal takeouts
NEW SHARON – A family baked bean takeout will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at the New Sharon Congregational United Church of Christ, Cape Cod hill Road. The meal will include a quart of baked beans, a pint of coleslaw, yeast rolls and family-size homemade pie for $14. To reserve meals, call Mary at 778-2366.
Church supper
FARMINGTON – A spaghetti supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Route 2, East Farmington. There will be meat sauce or veggie sauce, coleslaw, garlic bread, mystery dessert and coffee.
Cost is $6. The supper is being sponsored by the United Methodist Men to support mission projects, local, state and international work.
Cabin fever night
KINGFIELD – The New Portland Community Library will hold a “Cabin Fever Reliever” fundraising event from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Nostalgia Tavern. A bluegrass trio, Slant Six, will provide the music. The trio features an upright bass, banjo and guitar.
Tickets will be $15 a person and $25 a couple. Advance tickets can be purchased from any board member or at the library. Call Andrea Reichert at 628-5411 for more information.
Street cleanup
WILTON – The Wilton Group, an organization of local residents and businesses, will combine with the Boy Scouts of Troop 518 from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday April 25, for an Earth Week Cleanup of Main Street.
The cleanup of litter will include both sides of Main Street from its intersections with Route 2 in East Wilton extending to the downtown village intersection with Route 2.
The highway crew has agreed to pick up collected bags of litter and the Wilton police will provide safety patrols during the pickup.
Volunteers are invited to take part. Large trash bags and gloves will be provided or volunteers can bring their own. The group will meet at 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Methodist Church.
