I am writing in response to recent articles about James Michael Peters.

I encourage people to check out recent research and facts on violence and psychiatric drugs, offered by the Citizen Commission on Human Rights. According to that commission, there is mounting evidence that psychiatric drugs can cause psychotic behavior, including murder and suicides – especially during withdrawal from these dangerous mind-altering drugs.

Also, recent label laws have been passed for Ritalin and other psychiatric drugs used on children. Drug companies are now forced to label side effects on the packaging because of evidence that such drugs lead to such actions. It is my belief that psychiatric drugs were involved in some way with all the school shootings, Columbine included.

As a community, we should take the Peters shooting as a sign that reform needs to be taken in how the mentally ill are cared for. We need to find effective solutions. Drugs are not the answer.

Even though it is 2007, we are still in the dark ages with mental health care.
