LEWISTON – Roger Joseph Beaule passed away peacefully Thursday night, April 19, at home with his wife and family.
He was born on Pond Road in Lewiston on June 21, 1913, to the late David and Alice (Bilodeau) Beaule.
On May 22, 1954, he married the love of his life, Rolande (Marchand) Beaule.
He was an avid outdoorsman, spending many wonderful times hunting, fishing and camping with his loving wife, Rolande. He was a patron of classical music and could spend many hours listening to various concertos. He loved to nurture his garden, where he spent many hours “talking” to his tomato plants, routinely making them “blush.” He always felt life was “too serious” and made a point of making light of things, always looking at the bright side of things. He thrived on doing for others and would give you the shirt off his back.
He was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Roger was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion, serving in France, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his outstanding leadership qualities.
He worked more than 40 years at Gould & Scammon, Inc., as well as more than 12 years in his private bulldozer business.
Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rolande, of Lewiston; three sons, Jeffrey Beaule, Raymond and his wife, Pamela (Begin) Beaule, and Keith and his wife, Julie (Talbot) Beaule; three brothers, Bertrand Beaule, Leo Beaule, and Gerard and his wife, Gilberte (Desrochers) Beaule; one sister, Jeannette (Beaule) Chandonnet; five grandchildren, Erin Beaule, Lance Corporal Ian Beaule, USMC, Lance Corporal Evan Beaule, USMC, Ryan Beaule, and Justin Smith; three great-grandchildren, Isaac Peachey, Rashoen Powell and Maliyah Powell; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Beaule and Ralph Beaule; and six sisters, Fleurange (Beaule) Grenier, Therese (Beaule) Galipeau, Odile (Beaule) Cyr, Clotilde (Beaule) Rioux, Irene Beaule and Irene (Beaule) Longchamps.
The family would like to extend their extreme appreciation to the loving caregivers at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. They provided much comfort and care to him and his family during his last days with them. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s name to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 819, Lewiston, ME 04243-0819.
