Marines to meet

AUBURN – The Central Maine Detachment, Marine Corps League, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St., side door on Cook Street.

Commandant Raymond Lemieux will address the members on information given out at the state meeting on April 15 at the American Legion Post 2 in Augusta. Recognition certificates were presented to the members who completed training on military funeral honors as authorized provider in the military funeral honors program.

The following detachment members completed training: Lemieux, Chaplain Richard McGuinness, Web Sgt. Adjutant Travis Jackson and Correspondent Edith Lemieux.

Raymond Lemieux will also report on activities at the quad state convention held in Manchester, N.H.

Group to elect

LISBON FALLS – The West Bowdoin Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at the home of Mrs. Carl Bickford. Election of officers and trustees will be held and business transacted. Interested persons are welcome.

Seniors concert

LEWISTON – Just Us, a local musical group, will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. Doors will open at 6:30.

It is a fundraiser with proceeds to benefit the Lewiston Senior Citizens Program. The concert is open to the public with general admission seating. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Lewiston Senior Citizens Office at the Multi-Purpose Center or from members of the Lewiston Senior Citizens. Refreshments will be on sale.

Appraisal night

TURNER – The Turner Historical Museum will hold an antique appraisal night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, on the fourth floor of the old Leavitt Institute Building.

Jim Talbot of Talbot’s Auctions will be on hand to appraise one item a person. Suggested donation is $5. There will be light refreshments. For more information, call 225-2629 or 224-8316.

Society speaker

AUBURN – Highlights from 67 seasons of Community Little Theater will be shared at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Androscoggin Historical Society. Entrance is at 2 Court St. and an elevator is available to the third-floor meeting room.

Mitch Thomas, longtime CLT director and actor, will remember the many shows during 67 seasons.

A native of Jay, Thomas is community director at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine. For many years, he was a volunteer interpreter at Norlands Living History Center, Livermore, and presently serves as chairman of the board of trustees.

He has composed a variety of shows, including “Taller Than Truth” with Foothills Arts of Farmington. He is a former editor of the Livermore Falls Advertiser and presently is an adjunct instructor of writing at Central Maine Community College, Auburn.
