Yard sale

JAY – The Daughters of Isabella will hold the annual yard sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the St. Rose Parish Hall. There will be a white elephant table, food table, books, clothes and plants.

Planning parade

LIVERMORE FALLS – The veteran organizations in Jay and Livermore Falls will hold a Memorial Day parade planning meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, April 30, at the American Legion Hall, 17 Reynolds Ave. All people interested in attending the meeting are invited, said Normand Chabot, AL commander.

Drawing course

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer an eight-week course in drawing from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays, May 1 to June 19, at the Phillips Middle School.

The instructor is Elizabeth Olbert. Participants will explore the traditional tools of naturalistic drawing and will learn a full range of skills while studying landscapes, still lifes, figures and animals and portraiture. Students should plan on supplying their own materials. Learning how to find and choose quality supplies will be among the topics discussed.

The cost is $75 a student. The course will run with a minimum of eight and a maximum of 15 participants. For more information or to register, call the Office of Adult and Community Education at 678-2701, ext. 226, no later than Friday, April 27.

Emblem meeting

FARMINGTON – A soup and salad supper was served prior to the April 12 meeting of Farmington Emblem Club 460. Honored at the supper/meeting were past presidents of the club.

Newly installed President Nancy Chase presided. Due to the storm, only 17 members attended. Past presidents attending were Diana Oliver, Christine Greenleaf, Rebecca Powell, Peggy Alexander, Avis Mahoney, Connie Small, Nancy Crosby and Kamilla Hall.

Hall will bake cookies for the Franklin County Soil and Conservation Committee. Donations will be made to the Elks Youth Fest, for a girl to attend Girls State and a boy, Boys State and to Reach Across America for Arlington Cemetery.

The 50/50 raffle was won by Marge Bernier and the mystery gift by Cheryl Deshais. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
