FARMINGTON – Farmington will observe the National Day of Prayer at a noontime prayer ceremony open to the public on Thursday, May 3, at the Meeting House Park gazebo.

The ceremony will feature the reading of the proclamation of the National Day of Prayer, the pledge of allegiance, music, a short message on the theme and various prayers offered by community members.

For the fourth year in a row the National Day of Prayer will also be observed at noon Thursday at the gazebo at Bass Park, Wilson Lake, Wilton, rain or shine. Since no seating or cover is available in Wilton, bringing a lawn chair and an umbrella may be considered. The public is invited.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress, which encourages Americans to pray for the nation, its people and its leaders. The theme this year is “America, Honor God.”
