LEWISTON – Rhea Priscilla Jacqmin, 83, of New Gloucester, died early Sunday morning, April 22, at d’Youville Pavilion after a long illness.
She was born in Augusta on Nov. 23, 1923, the daughter and only child of Laura (L’Italian) and Arthur Pelletier.
She was a 1942 graduate of Lewiston High School.
On April 21, 1947, she married her soulmate, Reginald E. Jacqmin, in Lewiston. She made it to her 60th wedding anniversary and departed the day after.
She had worked as a bookkeeper in several Lewiston businesses before marriage.
She was devoted wife and a loving and affectionate mother to her sons.
In the 1960s and later she had a business buying antiques, which brought her much satisfaction.
Rhea had a wonderful smile and loved to laugh.
She is survived by her loving husband, Reggie, of New Gloucester; and two sons, Michael and Ronald of New Gloucester.
She was predeceased by her infant son, Edmund.
A special thanks is given to the staff at 3 East of d’Youville Pavilion for the loving care she received in the past three and a half years that she was a resident. Their devoted care helped make her last years as pleasant as possible.
Also thanks to Beacon Hospice for the care she received a year before that improved her condition so she could be with us another year.
