The Youth of the Month/Year Award recognizes industrious high school students who attain high levels of scholastic achievement, community involvement and leadership. The program not only rewards outstanding young people, but also provides an incentive for other youngsters to strive for equally high levels of achievement.
The Auburn Exchange Youth of the Year program begins by selecting the Youth of the Month.
Each month from October to February students from Edward Little High School, Lewiston High School and St. Dominic Regional High School are nominated by their respective guidance departments as a candidate for Youth of the Year. Each monthly winner receives a $100 scholarship from the Exchange Club.
Selection of the Youth of the Year is made from among the Youths of the Month and the winner receives a $500 scholarship. The club’s Youth of the Year advances to the New England District competition, and, ultimately, an opportunity to vie for the National Youth of the Year Award.
