PORTLAND – Cindy Bullens, veteran singer, songwriter, and musician, will share her music and stories Thursday, May 3, at the University of Southern Maine’s Evenings at Abromson series event.
Bullens will perform music from her newly released “Dream #29” and from her inspirational album, “Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth,” written in response to the tragic death of her young daughter. Her stories provide an upfront, fun and emotional look inside the music industry and the life of a successful musician.
Bullens is an internationally acclaimed artist with two Grammy nominations and 25 years of experience in the music industry. In the course of her career, she has worked with many famous musicians, including Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan. Between tours, she wrote the music and lyrics for the 2001 Broadway musical “Islands,” performed as a benefit for the families of 9/11 and as a PBS documentary. This spring, she taught a class, “The Music Business: The Artist’s Experience,” for USM’s Center for Continuing Education.
“An Evening with Cindy Bullens” will be presented from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Abromson Community Education Center. Tickets are $15 for general admission. For more information, contact Molly Morell at 780-5931; or visit www.usm.maine.edu/cce/.
