DOVER, N.H. (AP) – A fellow inmate is accused of injuring accused murderer Sheila LaBarre in a jailhouse fight.
Twenty-four-year-old Jessica Hanson, of Ossipee, was indicted last week on a charge of prisoner assault. According to court documents, Hanson punched LaBarre in the head and caused bruises.
Assistant Strafford County Attorney James O’Rourke wouldn’t say what provoked the Feb. 3 assault. He said LaBarre suffered minor injuries.
Hanson is scheduled to be arraigned on the assault charge May 7. She is serving time on a probation violation. Prisoner assault is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
LaBarre has been in jail for more than a year. She is charged with murdering 24-year-old Kenneth Countie, of Wilmington, Mass., on her Epping ranch and burning his body outside her house.
Her trial is scheduled to begin in March 2008.
