RUMFORD – A 28-year-old Rumford man who died unexpectedly late Friday afternoon in his pickup truck after finishing roofing work at a Roxbury Pond camp died of natural causes, according to the state Medical Examiner’s Office.
Michael L. Carey suffered a heart attack, the office’s secretary, Brandy Pyska, said Thursday afternoon. The official cause of death, she added, was probable acute dysrhythmia due to uni-vessel arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. She said she didn’t know if it was a genetic condition.
Employed by Hamner and Nails, a roofing and siding company in Rumford, Carey and co-worker Ray Thomas of Rumford had finished work on a camp owned by Mr. and Mrs. James Wendt at 14 Marchard Lane and were about to return to Rumford in Carey’s truck, according to Thomas, contractor Patrick Hamner of Rumford, and camp neighbors.
