Once again, the Sun Journal has taken an unfortunate event and sensationalized it, much to the dismay of a grieving family. Michael Carey was a kind, hard-working, and respectful young man, but an article about him (April 21) made it sound like he was some kind of irresponsible bum, and hinted at other things that were totally untrue. The article’s words were insensitive, and hurt this family very much.

Truth be known, we know now how my cousin died, but frankly, it’s none of of the newspaper’s business. For what reason would we want the Sun Journal to know – to fill up some more newspaper space?

At the funeral, when my aunt and uncle are saying goodbye to their youngest child, I think we will take up a collection for a one-way bus ticket for the reporter to the office of the National Enquirer, where that brand of “journalism” belongs.
