Flea market

DIXFIELD – The Dirigo High School Speech and Debate Team will host a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the school. The flea market is a fundraiser to help the team go to the national tournament in Wichita, Kan., in June.

Democrats meet

RUMFORD – The Oxford County Democrats will meet on Thursday, May 10, at the Rumford Eagles Hall. Mountain Valley High School students, who spent their spring break working with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans building homes, will give a presentation.

There will be a pizza supper starting at 5:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $3. The program will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in the presentation.

A business meeting will conclude the evening.

Circle banquet

RUMFORD – St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will hold its anniversary banquet at noon Sunday, May 6, at Teena’s. The 25- and 50-year pins will be given.

The committee will be Cecile Arsenault and Andrea Gurney, chairwomen, assisted by Kim Kelcourse, Gladys Gilbert, Millie Harlow and Arita Zitoli.

A meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the church hall. The same committee will serve.

Coalition program

MEXICO – The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will host a PowerPoint presentation based on the movie, “An Inconvenient Truth,” at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Dirigo High School.

Guest speaker will be Sara Lovitz, Clean energy outreach coordinator for the Natural Resources Council of Maine. Lovitz recently trained with Al Gore and is now traveling around the state.
