Sen. Susan Collins toured Iraq and had this to say upon her return: “Since I returned from my third visit to Iraq in December, I have been convinced that it would be a mistake to send additional troops to Iraq. I believe that this is one of the most important issues facing our nation and that it is important for the Senate to go on record in opposition to the president’s plan.”
Sounds like she opposes the president’s plan, right?
But after saying this, when given an opportunity to actually hold the president accountable and start bringing our troops home from Iraq, what did Sen. Collins do? That’s right, she voted against accountability, for the escalation, and against a deadline to start bringing our troops home.
It is time for Sen. Susan Collins to be held accountable.
