NORWAY – A four-way race for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen will be on the annual town election ballot next month.

“It looks like the only race is for selectman,” said Town Clerk Shirley Boyce, who received eight nomination papers for town offices before Monday’s deadline.

Incumbent Selectman Robert Walker, former Selectwoman Irene Millett, volunteer firefighter Joseph Tracey and Bruce Cook, a Budget Committee member, have submitted nomination papers for the June 12 election ballot. Selectman George Tibbetts Jr. decided not to seek re-election.

Incumbent Library Trustee Charley Longley will seek re-election. Hiliary Ware, who replaced library Trustee Lynette Gatchell, who resigned last year, has also submitted nomination papers. Additionally, Wesley Wentworth has submitted nomination papers for a third open seat being vacated by library Trustee Dennis Gray.

Incumbent Donald Ware returned nomination papers for a position on the SAD 17 board.

Candidates had to submit nomination papers to the town clerk’s office with at least 25 registered voters by Monday. There are 3,700 registered voters in town.
