CANTON – Margaret Ellen Lyle, 91, died Sunday, April 29, at the Victorian Villa Rehabilitation and Living Center, where she resided.
She was born April 25, 1916, in Janesville, Pa., the daughter of William and Annie (Bennett) Turner. She attended school in Coleport, Pa.
On April 11, 1936, she married Rex C. Lyle; they lived in Big Run and Renten, Pa., where he worked in the coal mines. They moved to North Tonawanda, N.Y., in 1942. They both worked for Buffalo Bolt Co. In 1945 they started the R&R Moving Co. and retired in 1981. They also ran Peg’s Crafts booth at craft fairs in New York state.
On April 11, 1986, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He passed away April 2, 1990. They were both members of the United Methodist Church of North Tonawanda, N.Y. She was a member of the degree of Pocahontas and was great Pocahontas of the state of New York; she was a past matron of O.E.S. Augustus H. Crown Chapter, and a member of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church in Livermore Falls. She and her husband enjoyed deer hunting in southern New York state.
She is survived by her son-in-law, John Will of Jay; a granddaughter, Margaret Maxim of East Dixfield; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Will in 2006; her son, William Lyle in 1989; a sister, Anne Turner; and three brothers, William, Samuel and Irvin Turner.
