Elm Street School held a play called Big Bad on April 11. The play was put on by the seventh and eighth graders and one sixth grader.
The play was based on a wolf’s life of crime and his victims all sitting in a court room, his victims trying to prove him guilty, and his lawyer and himself trying to prove his innocence. The characters were from all different fairy tales in which the wolf does bad things to them including the Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and the boy who cried wolf. In this story the jury, which is the audience, has to decide the wolf’s fate.
All of the characters in the story have a very different personality. There’s Little Red Riding Hood, who was played by eighth grader, Brianna Morris, who is supposed to be a spoiled brat who just really wants her money!
Grandmother Hood, played by the only sixth grader, Mary McKellick, is a very “hip” grandmother who really wants her money! The judge, played by seventh grader Josh Caron, is a very dim witted judge who thinks he has a lot of wisdom. The three little pigs played by seventh graders, Meghan Rowe as very stupid and clueless Pig One, Kaitlyn Roy as the slightly less stupid Pig Two, and the highly intelligent pig played by Joshua Girardin, Pig three.
The Old Shepherd, played by seventh grader, Allison Morris, who is just a laid back old man who doesn’t really care about the trial but getting his sheep that his son, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, played by eighth grader, Kaitlyn Bowie. The very flashy reporter who covers the trial played by eighth grader Cassady Applegarth. Miss Muffet played by eighth grader Michaela Chasse, a wolf psychiatrist who is very polite.
The Evil Stepmother, played by eighth grader Desiree Dearborn was the wolf’s lawyer who was trying to prove that the wolf was innocent. The fairy Godmother, who was played by eighth grader, Abby Small, was the very smart and sophisticated lawyer who was trying to prove that the wolf was a depraved criminal who must go to jail. Bill the Woodcutter played by eighth grader, Nicole Cary was a very manly character filled with heroism, some he may not have deserved.
The star of the show Mr. Big B. Wolf who was played by seventh grader, Elliot Lee was convicted for committing all of the crimes, and he even admitted it, but it depends on the jury to decide whether he was sorry enough for committing those crimes to not be convicted guilty.
It took many people to put together this show. We give a special thanks to Mrs. Downing and Mrs. Wood for directing the play, Tanisha Elston and Olivia Doyer for doing costumes and makeup, and many others for their cooperation and help with the play.
Everyone had loads of fun while practicing and putting on this play, and the actual play was AWESOME!
