NEW GLOUCESTER – Sabbathday Lake Grange 365 held an open house and Community Service Night on April 27.

Vicki Huff, State Grange Pomona, was the guest. The evening was turned over to Pam Dyer, community service chairwoman. All joined in the opening song, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

Special guest was Barbara Loux, a social worker for the Raymond schools. She is in charge of several community service classes in the middle school. She gave a general overview of the new program and brought some of her students, who talked about their projects.

The meeting was then turned over to Huff, who presented Ellen Parody of Gray with a certificate and a seal recognizing her 55 years of service to the grange. Parody spoke about her grange memories.

Following a silver march, Huff did a signed “Let There Be Peace on Earth” while the members sang along. Parody played the piano and sang “Amazing Grace.”

Master Steven Haycock asked that Adam Theriault and Tyler Vachon be escorted to the altar for a presentation. The Eagle Scouts did their community service project for the grange.

Theriault repaired and reattached the old outhouse, turning it into storage space. Vachon’s project entailed replacing the ramp in the rear of the hall. The ramp is now in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Acts. Haycock presented the Scouts certificates of appreciation.

The two asked to have their Eagle Scouts ceremonies at the hall and members agreed to grant their requests. Refreshments were served after the meeting.
