Anderson-Staples Unit 113, American Legion, Oxford, recently honored Methyl Belanger, center, a 24-year member of the unit and a Gold Star Mother. President Linda Jack, left, presented her with a plant and a gift card. Belanger’s son, Albert Lee Belanger, was 21 when he was killed on Sept. 13, 1969, while on active duty in Vietnam as a machine gunner. He was awarded a Bronze Star with an Oak Leaf Cluster and a V for Valor. At the right is Debra Gilmore, Albert’s sister.
