On Friday, March 30 the kindergartners and second graders of Trinity had some visitors. The St. Dom’s student ambassadors made a trip there to promote reading to the younger students. They brought enough books and bookmarks for each student to take one home. The students filed in and St. Dom’s Admissions Director, Ryan Gleason read from an old admissions essay that one of the ambassadors had written in 8th grade. The essay was written about reading and the advantages that the student felt it had given them over the years.
The younger students then paired up with an ambassador, who read them a book. Some of the books read included Clifford the Big Red Dog, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and Sheila Rae, the Brave. After the book was done, the ambassadors talked to the children about reading and gave them the book and a “St. Dom’s Super Reader” bookmark. All of the children seemed to really enjoy the visit, and became even more excited about reading!
