Lodge degree

CANTON – Whitney Lodge 167, AF and AM, will perform the MM degree at 7:30 p.m. today. The meeting will be preceded by a casserole supper at 6:30 p.m. All Master Masons are welcome.

WalkAmerica

RUMFORD – WalkAmerica will take place at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 6, at Hosmer track and field. WalkAmerica supports the March of Dimes fight to save babies from premature birth.

Hymn sing

RUMFORD – The Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street, will hold a memorial hymn sing at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, when participant will sing previously chosen favorite hymns, with Judy Kuhn at the organ.

The hymns have been chosen and dedicated in honor or memory of someone who has been special in the lives of the people gathered. Kathleen Crump has organized the afternoon, which will close with a short time of fellowship and refreshments. Pastor Kelly Harvell invites all to attend.

Legion lunch

RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24 and Auxiliary will meet Sunday, May 6, at the post home, Congress Street. Lunch will be served at 5 p.m. with the meetings to follow.

The Auxiliary will hold installation of new officers. Women to be installed are reminded to wear their blue collars. All members and guests are invited.

Society meeting

PERU – The Peru Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall.

Registration

MEXICO – SAD 43 kindergarten registration and screening will take place at the superintendent’s office, 3 Recreation Drive, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 8. for students who will attend Rumford Elementary School; from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, for students who will attend Meroby Elementary School; and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 10, for students who are unable to attend the two previous dates. Parents should allow one hour for the appointment.

Parents need to bring an original birth certificate, immunization information and the child’s social security card.

Legion supper

RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24 will hold a public supper at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10. The menu will include American chop suey and dessert. Cost is $6 a person. For more information, call 369-9053.

Mystery dinner

PARIS – The Good Shepherd Players will present a mystery dinner production, “A Spirited Night in Swanson Manor,” at the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church, South Paris. A single performance will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 12. Tickets are $30 a person and include dinner, show and all the clues necessary to solve the mystery. Seats are limited. Tickets can be purchased at Books ‘n Things on Main Street in Norway, or from any Deering Church member or reserve a seat by calling 998-5343. Proceeds will to go toward the Deering Memorial UMC Tower Restoration Fund and the ministries of Good Shepherd UMC.
