Tranquil Lodge

AUBURN – Tranquil Lodge 29, AF and AM, will hold a stated meeting at the lodge hall, 1021 Turner St., at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9. All Master Masons are welcome.

Breastfeeding

AUBURN – Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome. Discussion will focus on “The Advantages of Breastfeeding for Mother and Baby.”

All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.

WLU program

AUBURN – Author Ian Brodie Orman will be the speaker at the 2 p.m. meeting Thursday, May 10, of the Woman’s Literary Union, 19 Elm St. Orman will read excerpts from his book, “Leave Me in the Privy.” He is a retired art instructor from the Auburn School system and is known for his dry sense of humor. This is the last meeting of the season for WLU until September.

Club speaker

SABATTUS – The Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club invites all dog fanciers to the Thursday, May 10, meeting at which Arnold Woolf, AKC judge and author, will be the speaker.

Woolf has been judging for more than 45 years and will discuss “The Judge’s Point of View” and talk on his experiences while judging throughout this country and Canada.

The club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sabattus Town Hall, Route 9. There is no charge to attend. Light refreshments will be available.

Blood drive

AUBURN – The New Auburn American Legion Post 153, located at 71 South Main St., will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 18.

The Maine Blood Center is asking for help in meeting the demand for blood in Maine. All the blood collected stays in Maine. Call the American Legion at 782-1118 to sign up.
