HEBRON – Hebron Academy alumnus Chris Pinchbeck will speak at the annual Cum Laude Society induction ceremony today.

Modeled after Phi Beta Kappa, the Cum Laude Society was founded in 1906 to recognize academic achievement in secondary schools and now consists of nearly 350 chapters, primarily in independent schools in the United States. Membership in the Cum Laude Society is Hebron Academy’s highest academic honor.

A member of the Hebron class of 1981, Pinchbeck received a BA in commercial photography from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif., where his primary focus was commercial, nature and audio-visual. He also received a BS in environmental conservation from the University of New Hampshire, Durham.

Pinchbeck is known to many classes of Hebron students for his bagpipe playing, leading the senior class to the graduation ceremonies each spring.

Working both as a commercial and fine art photographer, he has exhibited widely in New England, including the Center for Maine Contemporary Art and Boston University.

His photographs have been published in numerous publications internationally and his commercial clients include Central Maine Power, Ford Motor Co., Merrill Merchants Bank, Jackson Laboratories, MBNA America, FMC Corp., Northeast Health, Hurricane Island Outward Bound and Moss Inc.

Pinchbeck teaches photography at the Maine Photographic Workshops/Rockport College, Academy of Art University, San Francisco, and leads photography workshops for Canadian Mountain Holidays in British Columbia. He has also worked commercially as media director for Moss Inc. and produced video with Post Office Editorial, producing the Emmy award winning Anyplace Wild television series.
