LEWISTON – The children who attend the YWCA of Central Maine Child Care program were thrilled with the late season snow. “This wet, heavy snow is great for packing, so the children had a wonderful time making this enormous snowman,” said Pam Murphy, director of child care services.
The YWCA child care program emphasizes healthy living, which includes a getting-ready-for-school curriculum, nutritious food and physical activity, including swim lessons.
Child care services at the YWCA of Central Maine include children from age 1 through 12. The program provides care for 93 children each day, with approximately half that number attending full-day care.
“We are thrilled to have the infants and toddlers once again part of our program,” said Anne Craigs, executive director. “Just one year ago we expanded our program to include them and we are looking forward to another expansion later this year.”
The child care program includes regular swim time for children from age 3 and up, healthy and nutritious snacks and a curriculum that encourages reading and school readiness.
