AUBURN – Ernest Houston Hutchinson, 88, of Weld, died Friday evening at the Hospice House.

He was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Weld, a son of Earl and Myrtle Hutchinson.

He received his education in local schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served at Guadal Canal in World War II.

He was employed at Oxford Paper Co. until his retirement and then delivered mail in the town of Weld after his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a licensed guide. Cribbage was his joy in life, which he looked forward to every week. He enjoyed summers at his camp in Weld, and winters at his home in Weld.

He is survived by a son, Wayne Hutchinson and his son, Colby; stepsons, Norman Blodgett, his wife, Linda, and their children, Scott, Karen, Lori, and Julie, and Allen, his wife, Donna, and their children, Milissa, Christine, and April; brothers, Vernon Hutchinson and Leon Hutchinson; a sister, Minnie Blodgett; Charlie’s children, Jill, Mark, Melissa, Charlie Jr., and Terri; Raynold’s children, Patti, Diane, Bonnie, Rayleen, Pam, Melinda, and Kendall; Joyce’s children, Karen and Jurgan; and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn; a brother, Arthur Hutchinson; a sister, Alice Tyler; and stepchildren, Charlie Blodgett, Raynold Blodgett, and Joyce Gabriel.
