LEWISTON – Clara E. Pike, 90, a resident of Auburn died peacefully early Monday, May 7, at Central Maine Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was born in Chester, May 26, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Lottie (Beathem) Clukey. She attended schools in Chester and Winn then moved to Auburn in 1938, where she became a member of Court Street Baptist Church.
During World War II, she served her country as a welder at BIW Shipyard in Bath, and in 1944 married Neville Pike who died Dec. 31, 1959. She raised three sons and began work at Roak the Florist for 20 years retiring in 1986.
She was a life member and past matron of the Pine Cone Chapter 26 O.E.S.; member of the Young at Heart and Robin Dow Club; she was past president of the Past Matrons Association, and past president of Viola Circle, and she also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Brian, and his wife, Marie, of Lewiston, Gary, and his wife, Joyce, of Pelham, N.H. and Randolph, and his wife, Katheryn, of South Portland; one brother, Richard Clukey, and his wife, Betty, of Mechanic Falls; one sister, Harriet St. Germain of Southington, Conn.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by eight siblings.
