LEWISTON – Rita L. Moreau, 85, of 160 Third St., Auburn, died peacefully Monday, May 7, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Auburn, April 17, 1922, the oldest child of Romulus and Aline Larin Bergeron. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from St. Mary’s school of nursing in 1943.

In 1947, she married Leo L. Moreau of Lewiston. Her nursing career spanned 39 years; she was a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, a private duty nurse while she raised her children, and later an industrial nurse at Pepperell Mill in Lewiston.

After 14 years as an instructor in the associate nursing degree program at CMVTI (now CMCC), she retired in 1982.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond, and wife, Nancy, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Paul of Fairfield, Iowa;, one daughter, Helene Moreau St. Hilaire of Auburn; four grandchildren, Megan Moreau, Danielle St. Hilaire, and husband, Robin Sowards, Ryan Moreau, and his wife, Lori and Aimee St. Hilaire; one sister, Claire McDonald of Oquossoc.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; her parents; four brothers, Louis, Raymond, Frank and Andre Bergeron; as well as one sister, Gertrude Bouttenot.
