The 44th anniversary of the sinking of the U.S.S. Thresher was observed recently. The U.S.S. Canberra Association, area veterans and youth from the Pentecostal Kids’ Church, the Jesus Party, participated in the “Throwing of the Wreath” into the Androscoggin River as a traditional memorial for “all hands lost at sea.” From the left in front are Arthur Roy, past Department of Maine commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Danielle Taylor; Donald Linscott, past Department of Maine quartermaster, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Kaitlyn Taylor; Elizabeth Taylor; Jerry DerBoghosian, who helped build U.S.S.
